Finals...yay!

Campaign Idea:
I created a company called Animal Ocean Outreach. This company is a non-profir orginization that wants to raise awareness and supporters on the effects of radiation on marine life. The idea is to have this program created before the nuclear disaster occurs to have beach locals ready and prepared to help their beach, and mirine life. I choose to design a limited edition line of surf and skate equipment,  as well as clothing, and accessories by Quicksilver and Roxy to get the word out. This is fun campaign that explores my target audiance and things that may affect them and hit them close to the heart and home. I created a series of teasers and a half page ad for surfer’s magazine. Also billboards, stickers, and a spray paint kit with a stencil of the logo.
Target Audience:
Ages 10-30 that live near the beach. This includes locals that surf, skate, an/or swim. Also you could say they care about the enviornment they live in.

I love the final results I got from this project. <3 Sam

Digital Rough for full page ad work in prgess...

I've been trying different things out and these were the some that me, my friends and family liked the most, tell me what you think. Also here are some other fun logos.

Digital Roughs of Teasers work in progress...

I found out that the dimensions of the ads in surfer magazine that I'm going to use so far are; 8x10.5, 7.5x7.5, 8x5.25, and 2.25x9.75. Watched an interesting documentary somewhat related to my topic, "The Blue Planet:Tidal Seas/Coasts", it's on Netflix if anyone wants to check it out.

Thursday's Class Thumbnails

I narrowed my target audience during Thursday's class critique and picked one sponsor company "Quicksilver and Roxy" instead of multiple like in my thumbnails. Everyone seemed pleased with my ideas they fit my target audience and mediums. Ages 10-30 that like by the beach and surf or skate or swim. Some text I was think of was; Limited Edition sold by Quicksilver and Roxy, 25% of all sales goes to the Animal Ocean Outreach Program, Join the Cause at www.animaloceanoutreach.com. I might include the logo near the text eventhough it's in the ad as a design on clothing or accessories.

Thumbnails from Tuesday's Class

In my first five thumbnails I was thinking about possible teasers for Surfer and bliss magaine. Some of the taglines I was working with were; radiate, action, and defience or influence. These didn't require much text like the full page ads will. During class critique my logo was simplified from the abstract radiation fish to just the second radiation symbol with the dolphin cutouts.

More Process- Slogan, Target Audience, and Purpose...

Slogan: Drown Out Radiation
Target Audience: Beach locals from ages 10-30. To be a bit more specific this includes; surfers, skaters, and swimmers that care about their enviornment.
My ad campaign's purpose is raise awareness and support for a program called Animal Ocean Outreach. This program is designed to get people to help clean up the beach and affected marine life after a nuclear disaster (radiation.) My campaign isn't focusing on the specific duties of the program like informing the public, it's focus is more on branding the program and making it cool to care about what happens to their beach.
Limited Edition Clothing, swimwear, accessories, surfboards, skateboards by Body Glove promoting the Animal Ocean Outreach program.

I want to design teasers and full page ads for Surfer magazine and Bliss magizine. Also I'm thinking about producing a few of the products for presentation purposes.

I did word brainstorming clusters with pictures and 10 thumbs but need to scan and upload them, see following blog posts.

In the light of the 300th birthday of Linnaeus, we reached our target of 100,000 valid species names by the end of 2007 and reached 200,000 species by October 2010, in conjunction with the celebration of 10 years' Census of Marine Life. The final goal is to capture all of the estimated 240,000 marine species by the end of 2011, and we hope to celebrate this achievement at the 2nd World Conference on Marine Biodiversity (Aberdeen, 26-30 September 2011). Still 29,705 to go.
-Based on their sightings, researchers at the US National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration estimate 556,000 of the marine mammals live within 345 miles (556 km) of shore.
Altogether the survey tallied 21 species off the coast of California, Oregon and Washington. The counts do not include three kinds of cetaceans that live close to shore: harbour porpoises, gray whales and coastal populations of bottlenose dolphins.

-What is the CRFS?
The California Recreational Fisheries Survey (CRFS) is the method for estimating total marine recreational finfish catch and effort in California. The CRFS is a coordinated sampling survey designed to gather catch and effort data from anglers in all modes of marine recreational finfish fishing. This program incorporates and updates the comprehensive sampling methodologies of the former Marine Recreational Fisheries Statistics Survey (MRFSS) and the California Department of Fish and Game's (CDFG) Ocean Salmon Project. The CRFS program incorporates many changes and improvements over previous surveys, including:
    * High frequency on-site sampling
    * On-site estimates of private skiff effort
    * Emphasis on species of concern
    * Use of an angler license database for effort estimates
-The West Coast groundfish fishery includes some 80 commercially fished stocks off the Washington, Oregon, and California coasts and supports millions of dollars in economic activity and many livelihoods. http://www.nwfsc.noaa.gov/research/divisions/fram/westcoastgroundfish/westcoastgroundfish.cfm

Radiation Poisoning: Effects on Marine Life

My topic is radiation poisoning, the effects on marine life. With my ad campaign I want to raise awareness and persuade the individual want to help raise awareness. Also I want to get people to help clean up the ocean and help affected wildlife in their area. My target audience is all ages/families in coastal areas/beach cities, around the world. For example; the Southbay, Manhattan Beach power plant, what if something like the current situation in Japan happened in your area? I want to take my own images for my ads, there's a wildlife rehabilitation center in San Pedro and an aquarium in Long Beach.
